The end of the hockey season marks the beginning of planning for the next year for clubs. ESV Kaufbeuren has announced nine departures, but coaches Daniel Jun and Andi Becherer will remain with the Jokers. Oberliga Memmingen already has a new addition in Markus Lillich. The returnee aims to strengthen the ECDC and is a familiar face.

He started his career at ESV Kaufbeuren and most recently played for Bad Neuheim. Why did he choose to move from DEL2 to the Oberliga?

„I see the Oberliga as incredibly strong. It has made a significant leap in recent years. I think the role player in DEL2 is still slightly higher. But in terms of potential and skill, Oberliga is not far behind.“

Previous stops for Markus Lillich include Bayreuth Tigers and Nürnberg Ice Tigers, in addition to Kaufbeuren and Memmingen. His personal highlights?

„The highlights of my career so far were getting a taste of the DEL, playing 12 games in Nürnberg, experiencing the atmosphere and routines. Also, as mentioned earlier, scoring the overtime goal with Kaufbeuren, which led to the third overtime.“

The Memmingen native is returning to his old team. His task: the 24-year-old forward will take on an important role in the attack.

„I have personally set goals to work on my strengths and improve them, as well as my weaknesses. I also want to help the team as much as possible, score many goals, celebrate many victories, and aim for successful playoffs at the end of the season.“

After the summer break, dryland training is on the agenda before hitting the ice again. The new season for Oberliga Nord and Süd will kick off together on Friday, 20 September….
